Cut Down That Tree!
By Fr. Graham's Sermon - Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008
Once upon a time, some people who were fortunate enough to live near a beautiful lake decided to try to start a brand new church where they and others who visited the lake on weekends could offer worship in the manner they had grown to love. A little church-by-the-lake was born.

FORGIVENESS
By Fr. Graham's Sermon - Sunday, Sept 14, 2008
Someone has observed that as Christians, we should all be grateful to St. Peter because he opened his big mouth and put the question to Jesus directly: “How many times ought we be wiling to forgive someone

Practice Makes Perfect
By Fr. Graham's Sermon - Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008
On the busy sidewalks of New York City, one guy walks up to another guy and asks, "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" The other guy responds, "Practice, Man, Practice!"
That old one, that non-funny one, does re-emphasize something many of us have heard all our lives: "practice makes perfect!" Whether it's an Olympic athlete, or a concert pianist, or a master carpenter, or artist, we know for certain that they got where they are by practice, lots and lots of practice. Practice makes perfect!
Did you ever think of worship as practice?
Worship as practice?

Living Christ Statue
By Greg Plank
We thought you would all like to have a little history about our new Living Christ Statue...
The statue was created by the Demetz Studio located in Ortisei in Northern Italy. The studio was founded in 1872 by the Demetz family and is now operated by the fourth Demetz generation. The studio has produced many thousand religious statues and other pieces of art including the life size Nativity that is displayed at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City at Christmas time.
The Risen Christ statue has a larger version that is twenty-seven feet tall at the Basilica of Don Bosco in Turin Italy. The statue at Holy Spirit is life sized and was painted by the famous Demetz artisans.

As I write this, I’m anticipating the great feast, Pentecost. While this day is observed with great joy and solemnity throughout the Christian church, that is even more the case in this parish which is dedicated to the Holy Spirit.

May Dove
By staff
The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit continues to amaze and impress me. The ministries of outreach embraced and accomplished by this congregation are truly wonderful. I’ve known many other congregations which were much larger in terms of people and resources and those churches did not begin to accomplish the ministries of outreach evident at this parish. I commend all of you for your dedication to others. Keep up the good work!

March 2007 Dove
By staff
Is this an upbeat joyful service? No, it isn’t. Christianity is not a cafeteria-style religion meaning that we take only what we like or what feels comfortable. As disturbing as it may be, the Passion of our Lord must be considered and the Way of the Cross is one of the Lenten devotions that furthers such consideration.
